My first journal page!
Well, actually I made a few before this one but they aren't very good! This is technically my 5th in my journal titled, "Portrait of Jennie". I'm having a lot of fun with the journal but wow, it really isn't easy for me. I'm trying very hard to be creative but it's a bit like trying to force a snail to move. It will happen but SLOWLY! he he he

Black and White Twinchie
Hello!
I had a great interview today! It's for a part-time position (maybe 20 hours) but I'm so excited to be working again! Plus once I find something in my field I can keep this one on the side (it's a wonderful jewelry store!). I have my fingers crossed about the position that I interviewed for on Wednesday; it's an amazing organization and I would be honored to work there.
Anyways...enough of the hum drum....let's get to the fun stuff!
This twinchie (2x2 card) is my entry into the weekly Artchix (http://myartisticlife.typepad.com/) art challenge. This weeks challenge is to create a twinchie completely in black, white and/or gray. Mine is actually more black but the flash on my camera lightened the image some. (Did take a fabulous picture of it but it included a great portion of my Saffron's bum and I didn't think anyone really wanted to see that!)
I doubt I'll win because the other artists that will likely participate are incredibly creative but just putting it together has been a blast. Plus...I'll use any excuse to go to Michaels! I purchased the paper in the background (black & white pin stripe) and the cute little chandelier stamp (only $1.00!).
Best wishes and high hopes to you all!

In memory...
of my childhood Principal and loving father-figure, Billy Royster who passed away Saturday and a friend from times past, Josh Hedges who passed away today. My love and prayers to those they leave behind.
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aero planes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Ideas
Ok, so I've inhaled too much Baskin Robbins ice cream, watched American Idol and have decided that I need a project to keep me busy. I'm currently working on a Valentine's Day gift for my beau but it's a secret so I'm not sure I want to post it just yet in case he figures out how to use the computer and finds this blog! he he he We've been together for almost 7 years so Valentine's is very special to me; it's a chance to be extra mushy and silly, something I"m not normally.
The project I've decided (and I welcome any suggestions and ideas) is an art journal based on the song on my playlist, "Portrait of Jennie". I just love this song (maybe I'm a bit of a narcissist...hmmm.....) but I thought using it would be a great way for me to stay inspired and to capture my varying moods. Now, I've never done as much as keep a diary. This blog is wildly out of the norm for me so the journal may be a challenge but challenges are good! I can't wait to see what I come up with while I'm having my hot flashes - may involve lots of flames and a naughty word!
Feel free to post or email any comments or suggestions on how to make journals. I'd love to see examples of what you've done! By the way, check out the Artchix site, some great new ideas have been posted!
Best wishes and high hopes to you all!

Interviews
Fingers crossed! I have two interviews scheduled for this week. What will I wear? Is there dog hair on my resume copies? Will this ugly zit on my face go away by tomorrow and Wednesday? Will I wake up in time? AUGHHHHHH!

Month of Hope
What a wonderful January this is begining to be. I'm so excited about the renewed optimism and pride that I feel for America. To have an individual rally us together gives me hope that we'll all take the burden of change to heart and work together to reclaim values and ethics and to once again, Love Thy Neighbor.
I wish you all much joy and that hope shines bright in your hearts.
